Competition Crew - Soul Factory

The competition team of Talentfabriek 053 ‘Soul Factory’, is a team that will travel nationally and internationally for competitions and dance events. Within these classes, the dancers are prepared to compete at a high level with other top teams from the Netherlands and Europe. But the group feeling comes first.

The Factory is a team that especially enjoys dancing together. That is why the team will meet regularly with team outings. If a team enjoys training and developing together, the results in competitions will also increase.

The dancers of this team will learn how to warm up properly but also how to train their bodies in the right way to be able to express the dance in the most correct and safe way possible.

Training for Competitions

In the competition training, the emphasis is mainly on the showcase. Within this showcase, the different Oldschool Hip Hop dance styles will be used. Think Popping, Locking, New Jack Swing, basics B-boying, and Original Streetdance (this dance style is now known as Hip Hop). But also other dance styles such as House, Waacking, Vogueing, Modern, and Experimental.

A combination will be made of the different dance styles in the form of a mix with the appropriate different music styles. The team will be trained on synchronicity, execution, appearance, and team feeling. In contrast to freestyle, it is important that the dancers of the competition team form a whole who together perform a mix as accurately and equally as possible.

Attention will also be paid to a strong mentality within these training courses. It is obvious for a competition dancer that he/she is there every training and is present in case of illness (without dancing along) so as not to miss anything. What is also very important is that professional action is taken at the matches themselves. The dancers will be trained in dealing with mistakes in the mix, dealing with loss, lack of clarity, sportsmanship towards other dancers and teams, and so on. As a dancer, it is important to be a good person, in addition to being a technically good dancer.

In addition to the team showcase, there will also be a part of solo freestyle training. As a competition dancer, you are not only expected to know how to perform the choreographies well but also to be able to put down a tight solo.

This class is for intermediate/advanced dancers. You can participate on the advice of one of our dance teachers or on an audition.
